Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is the varsity performing group of the Thompson Middle School Band Program. It is an auditioned group of seventh and eighth graders that seek the highest levels of musicianship. In addition to rehearsals and concerts, members of the Symphonic Band are required to participate at ATSSB All-Region Band auditions and Solo and Ensemble Contest. Every student enrolled in the TMS Band Program is required to practice outside of the school setting.

Concert Band 

The Concert Band is the non-varsity performing group of the Thompson Middle School Band Program. This group of seventh and eighth graders seek the highest levels of musicianship. Members of this group are required to attend all performances and rehearsals, both during and after school. Members are also required to perform in the Solo and Ensemble Contest. Students will learn the ATSSB All-Region excerpts, and are encouraged to audition. Every student enrolled in the TMS Band Program is required to practice outside of the school setting. 

Beginner Band

The Beginner Band is composed of first year students in the Thompson Middle School Band Program. Beginner Band members learn the fundamentals of playing their instrument as well as music literacy skills. Sections of this class meet separately during the school day, but have combined rehearsals and performances. Members of this group are required to attend all performances and rehearsals, both during and after school. Members are also required to perform in the Solo and Ensemble Contest. Every student enrolled in the TMS Band Program is required to practice outside of the school setting.
