chief of police for the car the school district has its own Police Department we operate separately from the city or county so we have to follow all the rules that every other police department we're going to racial profiling report now Soleil today to talk about the standard response protocol that I love you guys network is adopted through the Texas School Safety Center which is probably the most used product across the United States how to respond to an emergency that we've been using it here for probably 10 years or better this is my sixth year here so they had in place before I got here a lot of changes that occurred over the past few years with it I brought a PowerPoint just to give you an idea a lot of a lot of people in here staff somewhere but it's the presentation we give to our staff now has grown to an hour and 15 minutes start of school year for all the staff and then throughout the school year when you have new hires contractility required so if we have five basic steps in rsr piece the less worthy things are the more efficient things are in the more easily so our first one is a hold in place that would come out over if we have the same medical emergency in the building and it really want the holes to fill up there enough after the bell rang we can Institute a holding Place everybody just stays where they're at you still teach and then we can release that over again or no we had a building from an order whatever some meeting or they just showed up so we could dance to the hold in place and that just doesn't give them a nod and those those can be released here is our next step secure means if there's danger outside the building so we don't open any of our exterior door nobody leaves nobody comes in so we still operate just like we normally do we still teach the class still go to the bathrooms lunches and just don't open any of it that too can be released over dinner, now lockdown pets what seems to be the problem with a in the news and what's happening today is lockdowns shootings in schools Across the Nation represent 17% of all mass shootings when you include College into that they represent 25% of all mass shootings but a lockdown we're getting bored across the district so that if for some reason you don't hear it they're going to be boards that tell you you're going to secure your in a hole those are instituted through the intercom or through messaging through a computer or something we're working on that as well so it cannot be released over of an announcement to physically come to your room tell you everything's okay and once you're in the hole then you're waiting for that next announcement to release those that's the way we are I know study Peach campus when we do one takes about 30 minutes for us to go through we try to trick people into opening the part of our training so that we can come back and say no you can't listen to the announcements or if you hear somebody knocking on your door saying let me in or hey it's over we're good you don't trust none of that we teach our staff and don't even respond because I know somebody it wasn't that long ago less than a year ago I had an active shooter and it was publicized all over the news and talk about how well this school again I got come to the door of the shooter came to the door knock on it and said hey dude this is a law enforcement and everything's good and somebody picked up on the fact that he said dudes but they were conversing that's not good so they did good but not opening the door but we don't converse cuz last time you unless somebody know is that there is somebody in the room evacuate Deb the fire if we had a gas leak or something like that but that nature graduation drills to go which direction to go with gas leak than all that free fluid we would move people around upwind of any type of dangerous shelter-in-place Reddit major storm coming through when I get to get people out of the the way of glass basically I would put them in all ways and we have a standard way of the students sitting the least likely to create injuries to themselves and those those are generally the most difficult Trails today because everybody even the kids have their opinion about where they should be sitting and how they should be City but there was no reply so those are five basic rules and I can flip through I'm not going to have arrest Authority anywhere in a school district anywhere we were some people have learned that the hard way not to get involved in a lot of stuff outside our schools but we do have a green Police Department turn we're going to help us when we you might see us running lights and Sirens to a different location have y'all talked about and what Lexus the things that it would take Thompson like at the they have a double door where when the parents go in there's a window there so you can't access but like at the high school in the middle school you go in through that double thing and you go into the office and so you have because you actually go and have to go Frank crate with a call man traps we have that in place of some buildings like even at the and there's actually Pasco we talked about it several times before you're coming in is actually separate from the building so when you ideas floating to get that way but we also we will enforce our our front office staff ask what your business is there some people don't like that that's all they won't open it for us look at it I think that we're probably not the only but one of the only districts in this region that has passed the safety audits putting people out trying to get but that is something we stay on top of and I'm sure there's no way cuz we're pulling door handles night when covid was Heavy we would pull door handles for the play doo wops on her hands were clean and door handle this week that's that's it in a nutshell we do we could talk about that to this kind of improvements being made and I can honestly say that we get better to clean it what we I went ahead and I made a copy of our minutes from less the other thing 7 a.m. rue21 have a medical Ridge Medical Emergency Response Team that the nurses for high school and for middle school and then we're asking our younger grades to start getting that pull together are you I mean when our goal we would like to run you not in the hospital and you run mock codes emergency and so I think it'd be a great idea to run these mock codes where you may and the hall in the bathroom in a stairwell coming back outside and you know exactly what your role is and that kind of thing so our hope is to get these things reviewed and then start training safety as nurses we we have to pretty much we were doing it anyway but we just develop the protocol so when someone notifies us that we have medical emergency that the nurse needs to respond to the principal the assistant principal and the police officer for me at my campus secretary they respond with me that way I can take care of the patient I can take over the scene principal knows he's supposed to call 911 secretary if she needs to go get the wheelchair or whatever she needs protocol so ever he knows what's the main thing is is once we get that call we need to know from the police officers that the scene is secure because a lot of times we don't know what we're coming to all they say is we need a nurse well we get on the radio and the first thing we say is what are we coming to and what we need we need to know that we need to know what to bring with it and what so we need from the police officers just to know you know that the scene is safe so I will notify the office that I'm responding to the emergency so they know my nurse support one will be my secretary she always respond because she train in my clinic to be my backup she will get the AED generally the emergency response bag so the quicker I can get there and start assessing the patient and knowing what's going on then she's got she is if needed she can request our emergency support staff one and that is on my campus that has a medical who has now been hired full-time in the classroom so we don't have her but if we had an emergency she is trained in medical and they would pull her in that case if the event that CPR was needed or we had a student that was combative then we put the protocol in place to have all of the emergency medical response team members going to that I probably couldn't do CPR for 20 minutes so you know that way I have all my CPR training people to report with me and we can trade out admin one will call 911 it is our protocol in the district that when we call 911 and I can go to channel 12 let Chief Alden know she called and I have a medical emergency they will respond over if I need him to assist emergency and or he can get on his phone and cold EMS and kind of skipped some of the you know the necessary Channel set filter down if the officer is not on campus at Manmohan Singh go on the radio notify them admin to is generally the assistant principal and they will notify the parents while we're you know triaging calling 911 providing medical attention if just for incentive Dana had a situation on a campus where CPR is needed then her admin will notify me to respond to the high school that way just to be there we can Team CPR little bit more effective so and the same thing for me if I in Disguise campus-wide as far is Butler in situation we will always stay with the patient until EMS arrived the nurse will we are always the nurses are in Direct Control of that situation until EMS arrived there have patient for responsible for them generally Administration wants a or go with the student to the hospital arrived at the hospital and take over the care of the child and then and if you'll notice on we have went everybody's name instead of their title and chief Walden thank you list the names and said because staff turnover does happen so that's what we did so if we have somebody that leaves we can go in and plug in a day this team consisted like I said the secretary I have p.m. secretary all Administration which is my principal into assistant principal. campus officer cheap Walden are medical assistants and I have a classroom aide who did amazing with his CPR check off so he is and then I have a coach who is diabetic trained seizure trained medication administration changed but she's in the classroom it's a little bit harder to pull her out of that scenario she would be my emergency support 3 so this is something that were like I said diligently working on this is just vedar basic medical emergency plan but we are in the process of a cardiac emergency plan and a crisis response plan do I have any questions do it anyway it needs to be in place so everybody knows their part not just what we're supposed to do I don't have time to play I need you to do this I need you to do that cuz I'm trying to get out the door and find the kid who I made the kid that made for example once you calm them down show me take me the Patriots where are today's date set up that's what it's designed for till then no eggs their role is and it'll work like a well-oiled machine call 911 Progressive toilet sheets play back me up as far as going to get absurd but I have the paramedic on campus and then I have an EMT and then athletic trainer so if something were to really go down then pay I call in the crew when we call 911 from our desk phone or a classroom phone that calls notification goes to Simplot they are there over there they know what's going on there over there so that's why they really like us to get on radio and let us know you know hold off but that is as it's an automatic notification to them and that's not that they would do that without notifying us but yes they had you know practice and had to call then it lets them know where that issue is even if you accidentally kid parent and I hit nine and then I'm looking on that I forget 09 a Jacuzzi running you own your mistakes and move on so that that's what we haven't and I'm not just talking about where hard to get to place where you have to work on how to properly you don't like not as fluid it doesn't just flow like if you were that's what we have April 3rd yeah I saw he's going to make sure that we get on the play don't like two step verification yeah what I created was a Google form cuz yeah we had volunteers sign up and do hearing our meet the teacher night or whatever and that was kind of difficult so what we have to do till we have to send out 14 days prior to the first event so what I did is I put it in a Google form with an electronic will go out to Butler Ford and TMS and it's just the information that was on our original form so and what I did so the parents wouldn't have to have did the English at the top Spanish here I need to just that at the are sorry and they didn't last name first name this is our original form it includes the date what's going on will your child often will they not here it is in Spanish parent signature that's typing in your name and it's boxers electronic signature and a date and so we're going to send that out through remind in addition with the flyer for prepare information for the parent night and what the content of that is as well so they'll be okay with this in the directions will put if you need a hard copy please request it from your campus office probably I'm going to get the principles to do it and not Tiffany just because they had it's easier for them to do for their campus we meet with them next Friday so I'll play tell him and give him the garbage they need to send and how they need to send it and get it to them to send him next Friday so you'll have plenty of time and then everybody that submit the form I can move into spreadsheet and sort it by campus and by student so you don't have to dig through that's awesome so we'll do it like that that's why I whenever if you
