"The arts can help students become tenacious, team-oriented problem-solvers who are confident and able to think creatively".
-Arne Duncan, (former) U.S. Secretary of Education-

Welcome back! TMS theater is excited to be starting another year filled with great performance opportunities for our students. Last fall, TMS Theater students performed,  The Outsiders, Cinderella, and Disney's Aladdin JR. They also travelled to Butler and Cannon to perform for the younger students in our district. The year concluded with a trip to the Scarborough Renaissance Festival to participate in the Shakespeare competition.

This year we will be performing “Game of Tiaras” for our One Act Play Competition in December. Come out and support our students during their public performance of the play on December 5th at Ford High School. We are still in the process of selecting shows for the spring. However, TMS Theater will be joining the ACE team this fall with an improv comedy class. Students will work to create comedy sketches for school pep rally events. The class will culminate in a public performance (date TBD).

In the fall, TMS Theater students performed,  The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton for the UIL One Act Play competition hosted by Ford High School. Parker Reeves received an "All Star Cast" award for his leading role as Ponyboy Curtis.  Samuel Garza and Kaden Moss both received "Honorable Mention Cast" awards. Lea Cavazos was given an "Outstanding Technician" award for her work as stage manager on the production.

This spring was very busy for TMS Theater. In February, production class students traveled to Cannon and Butler to present original plays based on children's books for "Read Across America" week. In March, students performed "Cinderella" for the ACE Pre-K program. In April, theater once again partnered with Choir and The Blue Babes to present our second annual musical, Disney's Aladdin JR. Now, as the end of the year approaches, students are preparing to perform at the Scarborough Renaissance Festival's Shakespeare competition.
