Jeanne Mattox is the Para Professional of the Year nominee for D.C. Cannon Elementary School. “My first experience in Quinlan schools was when I served as Room Mother in my son’s Kindergarten class in 1995. The following year, I was offered a position as a teacher’s aide in the inclusion classroom. Later, I moved to the ISS classroom. I have been a Title I Resource Aide for the past 13 years and I have worked 22 years for the district,” said Mattox.
She added, "I believe every child should have the opportunity to learn and be successful. I feel that my position as a Resource Aide gives me that opportunity as I work with our students that need the extra help in reading, math, and language arts. We assess, plan and teach to each individual child to ensure that he or she meets his or her Individualized Education Plan (IED) goals. I strive for each student to test out and move on to the next level. Working with the students and staff at QISD is most rewarding. There is no greater feeling knowing a child 'gets it' because of the influence I have had. I do love my job. I would not be where I am today without the influence of Kay Yeager and Tiffony Upchurch. They both encouraged me to do what I love; working with children."
Jeanne Mattox, Quinlan ISD appreciates you and values your role in our schools. Thank you for all that you do!
