QUINLAN ISD BASIC FACTS
Quinlan Independent School District spans 152 square miles of Southern Hunt County, with an enrollment of approximately 2,600 students. Quinlan ISD serves four municipalities (Quinlan, West Tawakoni, Hawk Cove and Union Valley) and portions of four counties (Hunt, Kaufman, Rockwall and Van Zandt). QISD is categorized in the larger 4A UIL classification. UIL classifications in the state of Texas range from 1A – 6A. Our mascot is the panther and our school colors are blue and white.
Students at Ford High School have the opportunity to acquire the skills and education they need to be competitive in a 21st-century marketplace. Opportunities include rigorous core academic, athletic and fine art training, leadership development, industry certification, technical training, college preparatory instruction, and college credit courses.
Quinlan ISD has partnered with
Paris Junior College to offer our students the opportunity to pursue an associate’s degree while attending high school at no cost to families. This includes tuition, fees, books, and transportation. In 2015, the first twenty-four FHS students graduated from high school with an associate’s degree. As of September 2018, we have 81 students who completed the associate's program. Almost 700 FHS students have earned almost 17,000 free college credits.
In addition to core college courses, the district has expanded career and technology offerings to students. Many of these programs provide industry certifications while they are in high school or the training will prepare them to receive advanced certifications upon graduation. In the 2017-2018 school year, FHS students earned 85 career certifications. These programs include cosmetology, animal science, automotive technology, business and finance, ag-mechanics, audio/visual production and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Quinlan ISD provides a wide array of community resources, including a free Fitness Center, Community Library and Museum Center, low-priced community meeting rooms, inexpensive Community Education programs and much more.

Experience country and lake living at its best! QISD is very convenient in driving distance to several larger cities including: Dallas (about 45 miles), Greenville, Terrell and Rockwall (each less than 20 miles). Texas A&M University at Commerce is approximately 35 miles. Paris Junior College in Greenville, Trinity Valley Community College in Terrell and Eastfield College in Mesquite are easily accessible.
Beautiful Lake Tawakoni is famous for being one of Texas' best fishing lakes. The city of West Tawakoni has been named The Catfish Capitol of Texas. Recreational opportunities include Tawakoni State Park, Thousand Trails Park, Wind Point State Park, Lake Tawakoni Golf Club, West Tawakoni City Park and several lake area marinas providing camping and lake access.
One of Quinlan's most time honored events is its annual Christmas Parade through downtown Quinlan, which is held on the second Saturday of each December. Traditions such as the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony add to the small-town and country charm. Downtown Quinlan offers a venue of antique shopping with a historic flare. Economic development boards work to attract businesses to the area. Quinlan ISD and Wal-Mart are the largest employers.
