Panther Marching Band

North East Texas Marching Invitational
On Saturday, October 3rd the Quinlan-Ford Panther Marching Band competed in the North East Texas Marching Invitational on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce where they earned a Division 1 rating from the judges.  This is the highest rating the marching band can receive at the contest.  Additionally, the Panther Color Guard received Best Color Guard in class 4A.  All the students in the Quinlan-Ford Panther Marching band have worked hard this season to reach the highest level possible and perform with purpose and pride.  Their performance was a great example and demonstration of uniformity, teamwork, pride, and high levels of achievement.
Congratulations to the students of Quinlan-Panther Marching Band!!!!

All-Region and Area Jazz

I am proud to announce the results from the Region 3 All-All-Region Jazz Auditions from Saturday, September 19th.  Quinlan-Ford Panther Band secured 3 out of 20 spots in the ATSSB Region 3 Jazz Band.  There were 9 schools that participated in the contest where students auditioned for the coveted 20 spots.  This is an outstanding showing for Quinlan-Ford and we are all very proud of all of the students who auditioned.

Quinlan-Ford had four students who placed in the Region Jazz Band and are certified for Area Jazz Band auditions.

William Brown - Bass Trombone
Adam Myers - Trumpet

Quinlan-Ford had one student place in the Region Jazz Band.

Taylor Wilson - Trumpet

The two students who are certified for the Area Level Contest have recorded their audition with a professional recording engineer that will be sent into the state level for adjudication.  Results from the area auditions will be available in November 2015.  All three of these students will have the honor of being  members of the Region 3 All-Region Jazz Band hosted at Quinlan-Ford on November 17th at 7:00. This concert is FREE and everyone is invited to attend this special event being held at our school.

In addition, Quinlan-Ford had several students place as top alternates in their sections. These students were just shy of earning a spot in the region jazz band.  I am proud of their hard work and their representation of the Quinlan Panther Band.

UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest

Members of the FHS Panther Band competed in the Region 3 UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest recently at Mesquite High School.  15 members of the band prepared and performed a solo and/or ensemble for a Judge at the regional contest to gain advancement to the Texas State UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest.  Three students gained advancement in two events that were certified for the UIL State Contest. These students had to meet the criteria of performing a Class I solo (memorized) or ensemble and earn a Division I from the judge to advance to the State Contest.  This is a very difficult process to go through and the students cannot receive any help from a director at the contest.  Earning a Division I or Superior Rating means the students performed their selections with minimal to no intonation issues, tempo issues or rhythm issues.  The students have to work together to perform their selections with appropriate and matching styles, articulations and musical nuances.
